For 29 years OPERA Iowa has created magic -- in rural schools, city classrooms, "cafetoriums," community centers, concert halls and gymnasiums -- offering nearly 750,000 young people and adults a quality arts experience today while building new enthusiastic audiences for opera tomorrow. One of the most innovative programs of its kind in the country, this successful 13-week regional arts education tour features comprehensive study guides and curriculum-based education workshops as well as performances designed especially for young people. The eight-member OPERA Iowa Troupe are young professionals whose sole goal is to captivate their audiences. Don't wait any longer to book your school residency or community evening concert!
Friday - Sunday, December 5 - 7, 2014
Des Moines Metro Opera will produce Jake Heggie’s Three Decembers and StageWest Theatre Company will produce The Baltimore Waltz by Paula Vogel. Each show will be half of the same evening and will be offered on December 5, 6 at 7:30pm and December 7 at 2:00pm at the Temple for the Performing Arts in Downtown Des Moines.
The works chosen by both companies will focus on families coming to terms with the effects of the AIDS crisis.
